December 5, 2023 - Welcome to the final installment of this series of expert interviews, where we have been getting to know the people behind PXP Financial better, to give you some insight into what it’s like to be part of the team from the people who know best.

This time, we spoke to our Product Owner, Verginia Dimitrova. Verginia has been with PXP Financial for almost six years, having joined us as an IT Business Analyst in 2018.

What is your current role at PXP Financial?

As Product Owner my main responsibilities are preparing story maps, organizing workshops, gathering and analysing requirements, and demonstrating features to external and internal stakeholders.

What are your favourite things about working at PXP?

I like the multi-national and informal atmosphere of work and really enjoy working with my colleagues from all the locations. I also appreciate the opportunity to work on various projects of medium and large scale which help me develop professionally by learning new technologies, tools and techniques for requirements documentation.

What do you think are the most exciting trends in payments?

I would say the digital tokenization of cards, as it significantly improves security for cardholders when shopping by protecting their most sensitive card data. At PXP we always have the end-user in mind, and security is incredibly important to consumers.

What have been the biggest developments in commerce payments over the last few years?

If I had to single out one significant change, it would be introducing more options for authentication of cardholders, which have less friction thanks to device recognition and other solutions, but have more security features, such as face recognition, fingerprints, and push notification on phones. PSD2 provides guidelines for applying exemptions from authentication while balancing the risks and benefits for both sides – merchants and shoppers. This greatly improves user experience – for example, cardholders don’t need to enter a PIN for each transaction, even if it is for small amount.

What work-related accomplishment are you most proud of, and what would you like to accomplish in the next five years?

I am most proud of the implementation of PSD2 framework and the integration of 3DS 2. These two projects were crucial for PXP Financial to remain compliant with the EU requirements for remote payments within the EEA (European Economic Area). Looking ahead, I am working on the new platform for payments processing, and I am excited to see how it will be used. Not everyone gets the opportunity to be part of developing a new system from scratch.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

During my career I have received a lot of different and constructive advice from experienced colleagues and managers. I value all of them because they contributed to my development and improvement. The top advice that was ever been given to me was: do not be afraid of stepping out of your comfort zone, because picking up a new challenge may require it - be self-confident!

Outside of work, what are your hobbies or favourite things to do?

I enjoy attending classes for national folk dances and travelling whenever I can.

If, like Verginia, you’re up for a challenge, want to work in a dynamic industry and be at the cutting edge of technology, a PXP Financial career could be for you! Keep an eye on our latest vacancies here.
